Sunset at Windward

$800

This was the view in early Spring 2020 behind Hale Palanakila, the Art Building at WCC. Chickens and cats were relaxing in the driveway. Leaves were just beginning to emerge on the trees.

Maunawili Farm Early Morning is that pretty place that can be seen from Auloa Road.

Kailua Lifeguard Station

Kailua Lifeguard Station is an iconic view that we take for granted. It was early and there were no people yet.

About Suzanne Barnes

Suzanne is a retired Family Practice physician who graduated from the City College of New York (BS Art) and was a member of the first graduating class of the New England College of Osteopathic Medicine in Biddeford Maine.  After completing her residency at Mt. Sinai and Cook County Hospitals in Chicago, she practiced medicine as a US Public Health Service physician at the Menominee Tribal Clinic in Keshena WI and then joined the Deckner Clinic in Green Bay, practicing for 25 years.  She was elected to the DePere School Board in 2000.  The photo of Suzanne shows De Pere’s Sequisentenial Quilt, designed by the artist, and executed with the entire Fourth Grade class of De Pere Elementary School.

She has loved drawing since she was old enough to hold a pencil, but did not start painting until taking art classes on her days off from work.  After graduating from the Kewaunee Academy of Art in 2010, she moved to Oahu where she discovered the camaraderie of other artists who paint en plein aire.   She now participates in Art Shows with WAG, the Pastel Artists of Hawaii, and AHA. An avid swimmer, she walks her effervescent border collie Lucy each and every day.
